The Town of Twillingate offers summer and winter recreation activities for all ages at its many facilities throughout the town, including the George Hawkins Memorial Arena.

The Town of Twillingate offers a number of recreation opportunities for residents and visitors at our various facilities. Whether you want to swim, curl, play hockey, basketball, or volleyball, we offer plenty of options for you and your family. 

The Twillingate Swimming Pool

The Twillingate Swimming Pool is an indoor pool, operated from early July to late August and offers swimming lessons, general swims, and rentals.

George Hawkins Memorial Arena

Our historic indoor arena was opened in 1968 and is home to the Twillingate Combines. Centrally located in the town, and surrounded by other amenities such as the swimming pool, playground, ball field, and schools, the George Hawkins Memorial Arena offers six dressing rooms, and a social/meeting room. Used not only for hockey and figure skating during the winter months, it is also the home base for the town’s annual Fish, Fun & Folk Festival during the summer.

Other Facilities

Nearby the George Hawkins Memorial Arena there is an outdoor basketball court, a volleyball court, a softball field, and the Hospital Pond walking trail and swimming area available for the public to enjoy.

Winter Recreation

Skate:
$3 – $4 per person

Minor Hockey divisions are as follows:

  • Initiation (3 to 6 years) or up to grade 1
  • Novice (7 to 8 years) or grades 2 and 3
  • Atom (9 to 10 years) or grades 4 and 5
  • Peewee (11 to 12 years) or grades 6 and 7
  • Bantam (13 to 14 years) or grades 8 and 9
  • Midget (15 to 17 years) or grades 10, 11 and 12

First-time registrants in “Initiation” (3 to 6 years):

$75 (first half), FREE (second half)

Initiation (returning 3 to 6 years):

$175 (first half), $150 (second half)

First time registrants in all other divisions (over 6 years):

$75 (first half), $75 (second half)

All other divisions:

$200 (first half), $175 (second half)

Women in both Minor and Female divisions:

$275 (first half), $275 (second half)

* Goalies – $100 reduction in fees for full-time goalies who provide their own equipment.

* $50 reduction in fees for second child and $150 reduction in fees for each additional child (only applies if paying for second half of season)

Fees:
1st year CanSkate – $150/year
CanSkate – $175/year
StarSkate – $350/year

Ice fee: $105/hr. + HST
Registration fee: $160 per person/season

Summer Recreation

These sports/activity-based programs for preschool and school-aged children run annually from early July to late August.

 

Fees:

Ages 4+: $50.00 per child five days per week ($10.00 off any additional child)
Ages 0-4: $10 per child “Parent and Tot Play” two days per week

Two lessons per week, per level

Levels:
Tiny Tots (Ages: 0-3)
Aqua Tots (Age: 4)
Levels 1-10 (Canadian Red Cross)

Fees:

All ages: $50.00 per child ($10.00 off any additional child)

General/Family/Lap swimming is $2.00 per person, check the schedule at the pool for more information on times.
